It has firmware 1.10.00 and sub version 1.02.01. The Sentinel update to 2.03 went fine and now has the new tuning steps for custom searches, but I don't have any need for them. Just be sure to have the SDS100 plugged into your computer so it can verify the current version with the version in your SDS100. For the current beta version look at the top of this page. A simple search of the forums will reveal numerous threads comparing the two scanners: like this one or this one. With that out of the way, one major difference is the SDS100's large color display which allows for more detailed info to be displayed vs the 436HP. Another HUGE difference is the way they're powered: SDS100 via a battery pack vs ...The SDS100 is silent. When I stop the SDS100 on the exact same frequency that the TRX-1 is decoding, programmed as a DMR freq., it doesn't even make a hit on the signal bar. I can't imagine the TRX-1 is that much more sensitive on DMR than the SDS100. The marine case is touted as being waterproof/resistant so Uniden kept the moisture resistant feature and advertised it as a plus for the SDS100. But the marine portables don’t use SDR. The SDS100 is silent. When I stop the SDS100 on the exact same frequency that the TRX-1 is decoding, programmed as a DMR freq., it doesn't even make a hit on the signal bar. I can't imagine the TRX-1 is that much more sensitive on DMR than the SDS100.
